As we all know, art cannot do everything. But art and cultural practices, as we also know, can do something. However, that something is difficult to classify because it has to do with an unexpected power that you do not plan and do not glimpse. An equation that becomes even more complex when it occurs in unpredictable spaces such as prison. What happens with artistic and cultural practices in confinement, what spaces of co(i)nspiration can they produce? The forum Dismantle the prison, summoned by the Cátedra Internacional Inés Amor en Gestión y Políticas Culturales in collaboration with members of the project Mujeres en Espiral, will bring together different artists who have participated, over more than 15 years, in different projects and sessions in the CEFERESO of Santa Martha Acatitla. We will talk about the realization of different products: murals, fanzines, collective portraits, short films, plays, etc.
